What is a workshop?

Workshops are where teachers can offer the most information possible in a short amount of time. They are held all over the world and at various locations in order to teach a variety of different subjects.

By taking a workshop from a teacher you admire you benefit from their experience by trying something you have never done before, or “to’ learn some new or old techniques to help you polish your skills.

Workshops are selected by the facilitator or teacher, to help beginner and experienced dancers alike to broaden their dance training. The information taught is broken down into a clear precise manner without making it difficult for the newer dancers.

Workshops can run anywhere from 2 hours to week long retreats where you will learn a multitude of things such as style, technique and choreography. Because the workshops offer so much in such a short period of time, you should continue to process and work with the material presented long after the workshop has ended. Keeping in mind that most workshops are affordable and you can pick and choose the ones that best fits your style and budget.

Every teacher has something different to offer in style and technique and no two teach alike. Workshops allow you to keep an open mind to new growth and new concepts so that you can grow in our understanding of the dance.                     By Memie-Ayat
